Lundin Links

Lundin, near to St Andrews the 'Home of Golf', is well known throughout the golfing world as a course of rare quality. Founded in 1868, on a Tom Morris course it was extensively redesigned by five times Open Champion James Braid, in 1909 Fine links fairways and excellent greens have ensured that it has been regularly selected as a final qualifying golf course for the Open Championship. Narrow fairways, bunkers, burns, and ever-changing winds guarantee a testing but rewarding golfing experience.
Brad Faxon, USPGA Tour Pro, in an interview with the Boston Globe, said:“I’ll always have a special place in my heart for Lundin Links”
Lundin Ladies
Lundin Ladies Golf Club is the oldest completely independent ladies golf club in the world. It runs its course and has no men members although both lady and gentleman visitors are very welcome.
Men can, however, become season ticket holders for a small fee but have to be wary of clubhouse restrictions. The course is in the Standing Stanes Park, to the north of the main road through Lundin Links. It offers a competitive and memorable test for all standards of golfer.
Elie

Less than an 10 minutes drive from the Wee White Cottage, only twenty minutes from the home of golf at St. Andrews and within sight of Muirfield - Elie provides a unique golfing experience. The golf here is in keeping with the holiday atmosphere where enjoyment is the main priority. Visitors acclaim the course as both challenging and charming in equal measure.
Formed in 1875, only a handful of clubs in Scotland are older than Elie, and the course is a classic example of links golf. From the opening hole, where a blind tee shot requires the starter to use a 30ft periscope from HMS Excalibur to ensure the way is clear, the course’s idiosyncratic charm becomes apparent.
James Braid was born and brought up in Earlsferry which adjoins Elie and the golf course and learnt his golf over this links course which has no par 5s and only 2 par 3s. It might be relatively short at 6273 yards but make no mistake, it is a true test of golf and a very enjoyable one at that. James Braid asserted that the 13th at Elie was "the finest in all the country".
The real character of the golf course is through the 6th to 14th holes, a stretch that takes golfers out to the sea and, with a wind off the Firth of Forth, leaves one in no doubt as to its seaside character. Few tees in the world of golf can as beautiful as Elie’s short par 3, the 11th.
The Golf House Club, Elie combines both charm and tradition, and provides golfers an honest examination of links golf. Visitors are always made to feel welcome, and Elie is one course to which they return year after year.

Anstruther
Anstruther Golf Club was founded in 1890 and has seen many changes over the years. The initial layout comprised 7 holes with trenches through the middle of the course and poles scattered over the greens to stop gliders landing during the war. In more peaceful times the course was extended to an excellent 9 holes which is kept in superb condition throughout the year.
The course is located 9 miles south of St Andrews and stretches along the shoreline between Anstruther and Pittenweem. The spectacular views over Anstruther Harbour and out to the Isle of May, Bass rock and south west to Edinburgh are a constant distraction. Golfers should beware of Anstruther Golf Club’s version of Amen corner which comprises a series of 3 challenging par 3’s starting with The Rockies (5th) voted the toughest par 3 in the UK!
We are also very proud of what Carl Sullivan, former executive chef at the Dolls House Restaurant, in St Andrews has achieved in his 1st year in the Rockies Restaurant which is now widely acknowledged as being one of the finest restaurants in the East Neuk. Carl, in addition to serving snacks and Bar meals throughout the day, provides a la carte Lunches and Dinners in the Restaurant. Bookings are advisable for the restaurant - telephone 01333 310981.
